WomanKind 2020 Conference – Richmond, Virginia
March 20 - March 21
Two years ago a group of women from St. James’ attended the WomanKind conference in Richmond, Virginia. This biennial event will occur again on March 20-21, and we are invited to attend.
The theme this year is “Fear.”
The sponsors have organized the events of the retreat around this theme. citing the prevalence of fear in our culture today: fear of the other; fear of violence; fear of the future; fear of financial difficulties. They note that despite our fear, Christians have historically been fearless because of their faith in Christ.
The keynote speaker will be Lisa Sharon Harper, whose work draws on God’s original vision of a world that is “very good”—or shalom. Harper declares that shalom is the Gospel’s vision for us now—shalom between us and God, shalom within our broken families, and shalom between races and nations.
This year WomanKind 2020 will explore and celebrate how God has inspired fearlessness in us. Through keynote presentations, workshops and worship, opportunity is offered to examine fearlessness, looking to scripture and our own personal stories, asking the Holy Spirit for courage, peace and perseverance.
